The signature status allows you to know the status of the signature for each individual signer.

If you wish to know the Lifecycle of a Signature Request, with all signers combined, check out our dedicated article.

Status "Awaiting"

If your signer's signature status is "Awaiting", it means the signature request has not yet been sent out. This could be because:

  • The Signature Request is awaiting the approval of an approver.

  • Or there is a signing order, so signers are waiting their turn to sign.

Status "To sign"

If your signer's signature status is "To sign", it means we have sent the e-mail with the Signature Request to the signer, but they have not yet signed the document.

Status "Signed"

If your signer's signature status is "Signed", it means the signer has signed your document. Once all signers have signed, you can download the signed documents by clicking on "Download document" at the top right of the screen.

Status "Declined"

If your signer's signature status is "Declined", it means the signer has declined to sign your document.

Specific status related to AES or QES requests

In the context of a signature request with the Advanced Electronic Signature (often called AES) or the Qualified Electronic Signature (often called QES), the identification of signers is strengthened by various identity document verification operations. These operations are necessary to sign the documents and enhance the legal value of the signatures, which can lead to specific signer's signature status such as :

  • ID error (only for AES): it means the signer's ID has been rejected. Please contact the signer.

  • Signer verified (only for AES): it means your recipient's ID has been validated but the request is still awaiting signature. You can remind the recipient to sign by clicking on "..." then on "Send reminder".

  • ID accepted (apply for both AES and QES): it means the signer's ID check has been successful.

  • Checking ID (only for QES): it means the signer has started the identity-checking process and it is currently being checked.

  • Blocked (only for QES by unit in self-serve with a monthly plan): This status is assigned when the signer has used all three ID verification attempts and has not succeeded. At this point, the QES credit is fully consumed and can no longer be used for signing the signature request.
