When using the Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), it is essential to understand how your QES package consumption (which includes identification quotas and digital identities) is calculated to avoid any unexpected invitation blockage.
Understanding QES consumption
When sending an invitation to sign with the Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), each signer will use at least one identification or digital identity to sign your documents, which will be deducted from your QES package. You can track your consumption from your Yousign account (click here to access it).
The count of identifications
Identifications are deducted from your identification package each time a signer attempts an identification. For example, if a signer’s first identification attempt is rejected and they then successfully complete a second attempt, this will deduct two identifications from your package.
Each identification attempt by a signer is deducted from your identification package: whether it is successful or not. An identification attempt means the signer has completed the entire identification process. An attempt may be rejected for various reasons (discover them in this article).
Rest assured, if a signer exits the identification process before completing it (for any reason, such as not having their ID, an internet outage, or their phone turning off), no identification will be deducted from your package.
The count of digital identities
Conversely, digital identities are only deducted if their use has been validated and allowed the signer to sign the document.
It is important to remind that it is not possible to force a signer to sign with an identification, nor is it possible to force them to sign with their digital identity.
To anticipate any potential blockage, when you reach 90% of your QES package, the following message will appear during the creation of an invitation to sign:
Understanding the reasons for your blockage
It is important to clarify that the blockage only affects users who wish to send new invitations when their identification quota or digital identity quota has been exhausted. Signers are never blocked from signing your documents with a Qualified Signature.
To send an invitation to sign with the Qualified Electronic Signature, you must have at least one remaining identification in your identification package and one remaining digital identity in your digital identity package, for each signer.
The remaining quantities in your package are calculated as follows:
Your identification package - the number of identification attempts made by your signers - the number of "set aside" identifications for ongoing signatures.
Your digital identity package - the number of digital identities used by your signers - the number of "set aside" digital identities for ongoing signatures.
Each ongoing invitation to sign with the Qualified Electronic Signature automatically "sets aside" the use of one identification and one digital identity per signer.
The set-aside quantities are automatically released if the invitation is canceled, rejected, declined, or expired. When the signer completes the signature, the used quantities are deducted from your package, and any previously set-aside unused quantities are made available again.
You can no longer send invitations to sign with the Qualified Electronic Signature when the remaining quantity in your identification package is 0, or when the remaining quantity in your digital identity package is 0. During the setup of your invitation to sign, you will not be able to send it, and this error message will appear:
When you are blocked, you can:
Check that you do not have any ongoing invitations to sign with the Qualified Electronic Signature that are outdated (we recommend canceling them to recover the set-aside quantities) or alternatively, follow up with the signers.
Wait for the renewal of your package (in the case of a recurring package) on your next renewal date (available on the Subscription page).
