Introduction

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security when you log in to Yousign, helping protect your account and your organization’s data.

After entering your email address and password, you’ll be asked to confirm your identity using a temporary code generated by an authentication app.

You can also enable biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) to speed up future logins on compatible devices.

Prerequisites

Before getting started:

  • Install an authentication app that generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP), such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, or Bitwarden.

  • Make sure you have a secure place to store your recovery codes.

  • To use biometrics, ensure your device and browser support it.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Set up 2FA during your next login

  1. You will receive an email informing you that 2FA has been enabled by your organization.

  2. Log in with your email address and password.

  3. On the 2FA setup screen, open your authentication app and scan the QR code.

If needed, you can enter the secret key manually.

  4. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in your app and confirm.

  5. Download or copy your recovery codes and store them in a safe place (preferably offline).

Once completed, 2FA will be activated and required each time you log in.

2. Log in using 2FA (authentication app)

  1. Enter your email address and password.

  2. Open your authentication app and retrieve the current 6-digit code.

  3. Enter the code to complete the login.

3. Enable and use biometrics (optional)

By enabling biometrics available on your device (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint), you can use it instead of your authentication app to validate 2FA and speed up login.

  1. Go to your Profile > Two-factor authentication

  2. Click Set up biometrics and confirm your choice in the dialog window.

You will be logged out and prompted to configure biometrics during your next login.

  3. Follow the steps in “2. Log in using 2FA (authentication app)”.

You will then be prompted to enable biometrics on your device.

  4. Once enabled, biometrics become your default 2FA method on that device.

You can switch back to using an authentication app at any time from your profile settings.

4. Log in using a recovery code (if needed)

  1. At the 2FA step, select Use a recovery code.

  2. Enter one of the recovery codes you saved when setting up 2FA.

  3. Once logged in, ask your administrator to reset 2FA for your account.

5. If you lose access to 2FA

If you are unable to log in and don’t have access to your recovery codes, there is no way to recover your 2FA access on your own.

Please contact your organization’s administrator and ask them to reset 2FA for your account.
